Matt Rule is Vice President of Affordable Housing Development at National Church Residences, Columbus, Ohio. Matt supervises National Church Residences’ project leaders and closing managers, and guides his team through the structuring and financing of low income housing tax credit projects (new construction and rehabilitation) and service enriched market rate senior housing. His team frequently combines tax credit equity financing with FHA loan products and/or HUD operational subsidies. In 2013 his team closed on six tax credit transactions for senior developments in five different states. Notably, his team has developed two of the first 223(f) Pilot Program/tax credit transactions in the country, the first condominium Assisted Living Conversion Program (ALCP)/tax credit transaction in the country and a variety of senior independent living/enhanced services models. Prior to joining National Church Residence, Matt was a transactional attorney at Squire Sanders, LLP, where he served as legal counsel for a variety of low income housing tax credit developers, syndicators, direct investors and lenders. Matt is a graduate from The Ohio State University Michael E Moritz College of Law where he graduated with distinction as Summa Cum Laude, Order of the Coif. Matt has been a volunteer with the Franklin County Children Services for the past fourteen (14) years and is active in the Vineyard Church in Columbus. He is married and has two very energetic children.
