Charles Bissell began his real estate career in 1985, working as an agent, representing sellers of commercial and investment properties in Northeast Tarrant County. He later worked with several independent real estate valuation and consulting firms, before co-founding LamBis Consulting in 1991. LamBis Consulting became part of Integra Realty Resources (IRR) in 1999.
Mr. Bissell serves as National Practice Leader of IRR’s Seniors Housing & Health Care Specialty Practice. In this role, he directs valuation and consulting engagements related to a wide variety of seniors housing and health care properties, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, CCRCs, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical office buildings. The Specialty Practice has conducted market studies and valuations in 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada. Since IRR was formed in 1999, the Seniors Housing & Health Care Specialty Practice has provided valuation or consulting services on more than 7,500 seniors housing and health care assets.
Mr. Bissell also provides advisory services to owners and developers of seniors housing and health care properties, including asset disposition and purchase due diligence. He has been involved in the brokerage of more than $400 million of seniors housing assets.
Mr. Bissell has extensive experience in valuing multi-family assets for HUD financing programs and in preparing market studies for Low Income Housing Tax Credit applications.
Mr. Bissell has testified as an Expert Witness in various district and federal courts.
Mr. Bissell annually authors the Seniors Housing Overview for IRR’s Viewpoint publication. He has given presentations at a variety of conferences and symposiums, including the NIC Conference, the Texas Health Care Association Conference, and the American Seniors Housing Association conference. Mr. Bissell has also been called upon to give presentations relating to valuation issues to Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and a variety of other lenders and investors.
Mr. Bissell is a member of the Assisted Living Federation of America, the American Seniors Housing Association (Advisory Committee Member), the Real Estate Council, the Appraisal Institute, and the Counselors of Real Estate. In addition, he is involved with a number of non-profit organizations including the Habitat for Humanity. He served as Board President for Dallas Area habitat for Humanity in 1997 and was awarded the organization’s “Habitat Hero” award in 2006. He has also served on Dallas Mayor Laura Miller’s Homelessness Prevention Task Force.
Currently, Mr. Bissell serves on several not-for-profit boards including Habitat for Humanity of Texas. He was also the 2007 Board Chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate.
