One of the largest owners and operators of senior citizen housing in the US, Merrill Gardens, a family-owned company, operates some 50 assisted living, independent living, and Alzheimer’s care communities in eight states. Merrill Gardens has grown by buying active properties and developing new ones, primarily in the Seattle region. However, Merrill Gardens has begun diversifying into mixed-use developments featuring commercial, retail, and residential space in urban areas. Chairman Charles Wright founded the company and opened its first community in 1993.
